Benefits of the Adjustable Facelift

Posted in Adjustable Facelift

The decision to undergo a facelift is a big one, but if you are looking to refresh your facial skin and remove fine lines and wrinkles, this procedure can take years off of your appearance.

What happens as the natural processes of aging continue? The results from a facelift are not immune to these factors, and eventually, you may experience your skin beginning to sag, causing lines and wrinkles to develop once again.

Revisiting a traditional facelift is challenging, and the initial results cannot be replicated, but an adjustable facelift, a cutting-edge procedure performed by Dr. Calabria, can avoid those problems. You will be able to revisit your procedure and nonsurgically readjust and rejuvenate your appearance after time has passed from the initial procedure.

Can I Benefit From an Adjustable Facelift?

If you are thinking about undergoing a facelift, you will likely be a strong candidate for an adjustable facelift. Like a traditional facelift, the adjustable facelift takes care of loose skin around the neck, lines and wrinkles along the face, and sagging cheeks. During your consultation, Dr. Calabria will perform an examination to determine if the adjustable facelift is the best procedure for you.

How Does the Procedure Work?

The adjustable facelift is similar to a traditional facelift. After the incisions are made, Dr. Calabria will redrape the skin, shifting or adjusting any small pockets of fat, if necessary. The similarities end during the closing of the incisions.

In a traditional facelift, any excess skin is trimmed and removed from around ears. In an adjustable facelift, this skin is still marked, but only the top layer of skin is removed, leaving the dermis and subcutaneous tissue alone. Dr. Calabria will make incisions in the scalp to create tunnels through which he pulls suspenders made out of pieces of your tissue. One of these pieces of tissue is held in place with a dissolvable suture, whereas the other one is held in the tunnel with a non-dissolvable suture.

In the future, when the natural effects of aging begin to show again, Dr. Calabria can open the scalp incisions using local anesthesia. He will pull the suspenders, retightening the skin. This helps you avoid a second surgical procedure and provides you with a youthful, rejuvenated face once again!

Recovery and Results

Your recovery time after an adjustable facelift is less intense than after a traditional facelift. This is because your incision site doesn’t carry the weight of the traditional procedure. It’s instead carried by the deeper tissue suspenders. This also results in minimal scarring.

While you will be able to resume moderate daily activities (such as returning to work) after a couple of weeks, more strenuous activities should be avoided until you are cleared by Dr. Calabria. You will experience some moderate bruising and swelling that will subside after a couple of weeks.
