Chin, jaw, and cheek implants are the most common sites for facial implants and are designed in a wide range of sizes and styles to restore contour and proportion to your face.

Am I a Good Candidate for Facial Implants?

If you have a weak, receding chin that you would like to make more defined and noticeable, facial implants may be right for you.

Facial implants and contouring can improve the appearance of a weak chin, jawline, and undefined cheekbones.

You may also be a good candidate for facial implants if you want to:

  • Enhance the definition and fullness of your cheeks
  • Restore contour and proportion to facial structures that have been made deficient by aging
  • Correct facial asymmetry or deformities resulting from injury or congenital conditions
  • Strengthen your facial structure

What Can Facial Implants Improve?

Facial implants can be used to augment your chin and jaw, to provide the sculpted cheekbones that you desire, or to supplement the tear trough area.

Some benefits of facial implants include:

  • Balance and proportion between the facial features
  • An improved profile
  • Customized results
  • Minimal scarring
  • Permanent results

Facial implants for chin, cheek, jaw, and tear troughs are made from solid silicone rubber.

Standard 4 mm commercial shells are suitable to produce natural augmentations in most patients. For a more subtle effect, some patients choose a 3 mm shell.

For patients who desire a more dramatic effect, a 5 or 6 mm shell is used. Custom-designed implants can also be created but are more time-consuming and expensive.

Facial implants are commonly used to improve the shape of the chin, jaw, and cheeks, bringing balance to your facial appearance.

What Does a Facial Implant Procedure Entail?

Facial implant procedures are relatively quick to perform and have permanent results that bring balance to the appearance of your face.

Cheek Implants

The specific area to be augmented in the cheek determines where an implant will be positioned on the cheekbone.

Cheek implants are usually placed through incisions in the mouth. When performed with other procedures, alternate incisions may be recommended, including placement through an incision inside the lower eyelid or one within the hairline.

Chin Implants

For a chin implant, the incision may be inside your mouth, along the crease that joins your lower lip and gums. An incision just beneath the chin is an alternative.

Jaw Implants

Jaw implants are generally placed through the mouth with incisions inside the mouth, back along the jawline at the crease where the inside of your cheek and gums meet.

Your incisions will be closed with absorbable sutures or stitches that will be removed within one to two weeks following your surgery.
