Rhinoplasty: A New Approach
(The non destructive tip Rhinoplasty)
Changing the shape of the nose is an operation
that began thousands of years ago. It started in Greece
and in the South of Italy, just a few miles south of my family
native town, in Calabria. It stared as a reconstructive procedure,
to repair injuries. (At that time a common punishment for
somebody that was breaking the law.)
And through the centuries evolved into a cosmetic operation.
Most of the techniques of the past that
were available shared one characteristic: disruption of structural
integrity of the cartilage framework. Nasal tip reshaping
was accomplished by resection and transaction results were
over reduction of the osseous volt, over reduction of the
tip, loss of support and projection, tip asymmetry, airway
compromise and demanded new technique for correction. The
logical question was: could the nose be reshaped and repositioned
without disrupting structural integrity and thereby preserving
support? Yes the new approach (THE NON DESTRUCTIVE TIP
RHINOPLASTY) consists of systems of sutures techniques
that accomplish tip shaping and positioning without structural
disruption with increased control and predictability decreasing
secondary deformities. Also non-destructive techniques add
a unique dimension to the surgeon the chance to make a change,
reverse the changes, and make a change again. I’m in
debt to Dr. John Tebbets for helping me to see the light.
Rhinoplasty is the most sophisticated and demanding operation
in plastic surgery; there are over 200 anatomic variables
that demands recognition and analysis.
To the eye, a "state of the art"
Rhinoplasty result does not appear operated: the non-destructive
approach helps me achieve just that.
